Alpacas by
the Sea is thrilled to provide Rick and Mary Marenger with our
finest reference possible. From the moment that Rick advised us
that he was indeed interested in alpacas to this very day, we have
seen how serious he and Mary have approached this business. It has
been honestly, refreshing. Furthermore, the strategy in which they
began their business convinces us that they cannot fail. We expect
they will create a thriving and prosperous business in the shortest
of time frame.
First, I
would like to convey how responsible they have been in their many
choices as they have entered the “wonderful world of alpacas” from
assessing the market, to designing their ranch efficiently, to
learning about transportation requirements and investing in the
finest transportation vehicle possible, to wise alpaca selection
criteria and finally, I have even seen them walk into the show ring
and compete with some of the finest animals in this country. The
animals that they have selected come from west coast lineage and it
is clear his desire to bring out-crossed bloodlines to the east
coast is will prove to be a strategic advantage. Next, Rick has
taken the approach to invest in quality, solid healthy, bred
(out-cross sires from the west coast) to some top, top herdsires.
Now, to look back on this year of many decisions and see the results
coming in is exciting. The Marengers are compounding their equity
with gorgeous crias. Which will surely be an advantage
in the new territory in which they live. Bottom line is that
it is fun to see how committed AlpacaTown is to making assuring proper
care of their animals.
Yet, the sad
part of this story is that we watched them leave California with
their very large herd and as they left, we found that we had earned
great friends. I can only suggest that Rick and Mary are very fine
people and they will treat you as they have treated us, which is
with the utmost respect and integrity. Consequently, we don’t
intend to let them go so easily. In fact, we intend to work with
them directly over the coming years to disperse animals from west to
east coast and back. More importantly, we wouldn’t think twice
about owning an animal, or herd sire in partnership with this family
because these people are down to earth and honest people.

If you have a choice of working with a breeder which we are
confident will take care of you and support you both through and
AFTER the purchase of alpacas, you can only make one choice, and
this choice would be to buy your alpacas from AlpacaTown.

....the best part was the
first visit and the all important first impression. Being
alpaca "newbies" on the edge of starting our own ranch and having
taken a chance and stopped in for a ranch visit without notice, we
were very impressed with the amount of alpaca and alpaca business
knowledge that was openly shared with us. And it was done in a
friendly, courteous, professional business manor without the feeling
of sales pressure of any kind. We were made to feel welcome
